Overview

Voting members of the HRTPO include representatives from the Cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Williamsburg, and the Counties of Gloucester, Isle of Wight, James City, Southampton, and York, as well as the Virginia Senate, Virginia House of Delegates, Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads, Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA), the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), and the Virginia Port Authority. Representatives from the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Virginia Department of Aviation, Peninsula Airport Commission, and Norfolk Airport Authority are non-voting members.

The HRPDC provides staffing for the HRTPO to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities and to coordinate efforts with the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads, Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA), and VDOT. The HRTPO's Technical Advisory Committee provides review and recommendations on all regional transportation planning efforts.
