HRTPO Priority Projects for the Upcoming Six-Year Improvement Program

At its October 16, 2014 meeting, the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) Board was briefed by HRTPO staff on the region’s priority projects for the next (FY 2016-2021) VDOT Six-year Improvement Program (SYIP). HRTPO staff provided an overview of the methodology used to come up with the priority projects:

  • Review of the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) priorities for the SYIP
  • Review of the 2034 Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)
  • Listed projects in order by HRTPO Prioritization Score per Prioritization Category

Based on these criteria, staff recommended three priority lists for Hampton Roads Transportation Fund (HRTF) projects, Highway projects and Public Transportation projects. The HRTPO Board, upon review and consideration of the priority project lists, voted for approval without modification. HRTPO staff will submit the following approved priority projects to VDOT and DRPT to be considered during development of the upcoming FY 2016-2021 SYIP:
