Arkopal Goswami recently joined HRTPO as a Principal Transportation Engineer, to oversee the efforts for the Long Range Transportation Plan. He has several years of experience in the field of Transportation, starting as a Research Associate with the Virginia Center for Transportation Innovation and Research, which is responsible for all research at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Subsequently, as a Senior Consultant with Dye Management Group, he worked on developing performance based highway maintenance systems for state DOTs nation-wide. Most recently, Arkopal worked as a Senior Transportation Planner with the County of Loudoun, where he focused on the County’s travel demand model and functioned as the Loudoun County Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator. Arkopal defended his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Virginia in December 2008. His dissertation focuses on determining demand for passenger offsite airport facilities and their role in improving landside access to airports. He has presented at the Transportation Research Board’s Annual Meeting and has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles.
