The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) describes transportation planning work and associated funding for the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA).
The UPWP for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, which begins on July 1, 2021 and runs through June 30, 2022, has been developed by the HRTPO in cooperation with local public transit providers, the Virginia Department of Transportation, and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.
The UPWP details the work associated with HRTPO’s core functions, namely, the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), the Congestion Management Process (CMP), and Public Participation. In addition, the UPWP includes planning priorities identified by the HRTPO Board to ensure its vision and goals are addressed. The draft UPWP was made available for public review and comment from April 7, 2021 through April 21, 2021. No comments were received on the draft document. The final version of the FY 2022 UPWP was approved by the HRTPO Board on May 20, 2021.
