HRTPO staff has been working since 2013 to develop an interactive Title VI/Environmental Justice (EJ) web tool that will provide the citizens of Hampton Roads a comprehensive look at Title VI/EJ communities within our region and the potential impacts of transportation projects on these areas. We are proud to announce that this tool is now available to the public.
By using the tool, users will learn about the guiding principles of Title VI and EJ and the potential adverse effects that EJ seeks to prevent in these communities. An interactive EJ Score map allows the public to locate areas that are home to multiple EJ communities. Transportation Improvement Program projects and Long-Range Transportation Plan candidate projects are also added to this map providing users with complete transparency concerning projects occurring in EJ communities.
This tool was designed with the public in mind. As always, the HRTPO is committed to questions and inquiries into our programs. Please take a moment to use our Title VI/Environmental Justice Methodology Tool and let us know what you think.
