HRTPO Engages Citizens in Transportation Education

by: Brian Chenault, Community Outreach Planner

A win was not the only thing Norfolk Tides fans secured on the evening of June 1, 2013.  In addition to watching their hometown team duke it out against the Buffalo Bisons and receiving valuable hurricane preparedness information from Ready Hampton Roads, HRTPO staff was on hand to provide fans with information on Virginia’s landmark transportation funding legislation, HB 2313.  With less than a month before key portions of the bill take effect, the HRTPO supplied fans with quick facts on what the bill will mean for them and how they can stay involved and engaged as Hampton Roads charts its transportation future.  This effort was part of the HRTPO’s goal to inform, increase awareness, and engage the public in transportation planning and programming efforts throughout the region.  For more information on HB 2313, please click here

In keeping with the fun nature of this event, the HRTPO also offered game-goers a chance to win a free bike when they signed up to receive the HRTPO E-Newsletter on the latest transportation news in Hampton Roads.  As such, check out some of the latest efforts to make Hampton Roads a safe and efficient biking region, also included in this edition of the E-Newsletter.

To the fans that visited our table and signed up to receive the E-Newsletter, thank you!  We look forward to bringing you the latest in transportation news in Hampton Roads.
