Mr. Bishoy Kelleny joined the staff of the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization on March 16, 2020 as a Transportation Engineer.
As a member of the Transportation Programming group, Bishoy’s responsibilities include assisting with the development and maintenance of the HRTPO Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), performing special studies, and conducting database analyses. In addition, due to his background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and transportation modeling, Bishoy also performs GIS spatial analysis and multimodal transportation modeling to support the long-range planning group.
Bishoy holds Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Suez Canal University in Egypt, Master of Science in Infrastructure Planning (focusing on Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering) from Stuttgart University in Germany, and is currently a candidate for a PhD degree in Transportation Engineering at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He has 10 years of diversified experience in academia as well as the transportation industry as a mobility consultant, modeler and transportation engineer. He also served as a Missionary Civil Engineer in Nairobi, Kenya between 2009 and 2012. Bishoy is passionate about sustainable mobility solutions and smart city technologies.
