Southeast High Speed Rail Association Conference

On November 16, 2010, the Southeast High-Speed Rail Association held a conference, High-Speed Rail in the Southeast: Making it Happen, in the Greater Richmond Convention Center. The aim of the conference was to provide relevant and timely information for advancing high speed rail in the Southeast High Speed Rail corridor.  Practitioners on hand to provide insight via a number of sessions at the conference included staff from Amtrak, the Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, CSX, Norfolk Southern, and various metropolitan transit agencies.  Sessions addressed issues such as: the benefits of high speed rail, private sector perspective on high speed rail, the connection between high speed rail and our cities, funding operation and infrastructure in Virginia and North Carolina, transit oriented development around high speed rail, and lessons learned from high speed rail implementation.
