Guidebook Update

The Transportation Alternatives (TA) Set-Aside program, established under the FAST Act, provides funding for a variety of transportation activities that were previously eligible for funding under separate programs under SAFETEA-LU, including Transportation Enhancements (TE), Recreational Trails, and Safe Routes to School. The TA Set-Aside project selection process was developed cooperatively by VDOT and Virginia MPOs.

The Guide to the HRTPO TA Set-Aside Project Selection Process documents the process used by the HRTPO to select and fund TA Set-Aside projects. The Guide provides general information on the program, including eligible applicants and project types, as well as information specific to the HRTPO TA Set-Aside selection process. The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) approved updates to the TA Set-Aside project selection process at their July 2023 meeting. The CTB approved updates have been incorporated into the guidebook.
